In “Reading List,” we ask ecommerce professionals to name some of their favorite books and blogs and tell us why they read them. In this installment, we spoke to Josh Pierry, CEO and founder of RevenueExpect, a San Mateo, Calif.-based remarketing provider.

Pierry says that he tries to keep his book reading to topics outside of business — just for personal enjoyment — and then balances that out with his blog reading, which is strictly business-oriented.

Pierry’s Top Five Recent Books

Bush at War by Bob Woodward

“It’s interesting to see how decisions in the White House were made after 9/11.”

Khrushchev: The Man and His Era by William Taubman

“I lived in Russia for a while, and always like learning more about the Cold War.”

The Reluctant Fundamentalist: A Novel by Mohsin Hamid

“I was given this book to me by a good friend or mine. It helps as a balance to Bush at War.”

Mistborn Trilogy by Brandon Sanderson

“I love fantasy books, what can I say?”

The Lions of al-Rassan by Guy Gavriel Kay

“Guy Gavriel Kay is one of my favorite writers. Smart, interesting, and a great escape. Again, a fantasy novel, but boy is it good.”

Pierry’s Top Five Blogs

EstebanKolsky.com – CRM Intelligence & Strategy

“A great blog from Esteban Kolsky and company about customer relationship management [CRM], social media and where it is going. Esteban has some interesting views on technology. It always keeps me thinking.”

Matt Cutts: Gadgets, Google and SEO

“If search engine optimization matters to you, you should at least know what the official stance is. Love it, hate it – you have to stay on top of it.”

TechCrunch

“You simply have to read this if you want to stay relevant in this tech-focused industry.”

American Political And Economic Chautauqua

“This is my personal favorite, but probably the least-known, blog. Frank Ferguson is a retired PhD economist and does a great job of making me think.”

ClickZ

“Good for all things web. I read this almost every morning.”
