We published a new video tutorial on our site this week covering some Photoshop techniques for removing product backgrounds. The response was fantastic, and I wanted to express our appreciation to everyone that commented about the tutorial. For the most part, our video tutorials have been experiments, as we know very well that in order to remain competitive as content distributors, we’ll need to be providing MUCH more video content. On the plus side, it seems from the response to this last one that our readers would not be too upset about more videos. Which leads me to the point of this post.

Shameless promotion and solicitation! That’s right, every once in a while you have to just step out there and shamelessly use a weekly blog post to ask for ideas. And not just ideas, as that implies that I would then have to plan, record, and publish said idea into a shiny new video. Better yet, I’m soliciting videos!

On serious note, we would like to receive any insight that our readers may have. Please visit our contact form and submit any suggestions that you may have for future video tutorials. Keep in mind that these can be about a particular software, a website, programming technique, or anything else that you can think of. If you operate in the ecommerce community and you have a question, odds are that there are many others out there with a question.

If you are an expert in your field, or feel that you have some tricks and tips to share with others, please don’t hesitate to contact us about contributing videos. We would be happy to review your idea with you, and provide the specs required for our video tutorials. While we can’t guarantee that we will publish everything, we would love for more ecommerce experts to get involved in providing video tutorials on common topics.

To get the ball rolling, here are some ideas for future tutorials (which may or may not happen):

  1. Simple form validation with JavaScript.
  2. GIF, JPG, PNG: Choosing the right image format.
  3. Setting up and installing Google Analytics on your site.
  4. Using Photoshop to batch process images.

Again, please feel free to send us your ideas.
