My server is down!

I guess this happens to the best of us, however, with us, maybe a bit too often. My server dropped off for over an hour today. The problem with this is somewhat obvious, because time is money, and I lost a very critical hour or so. About two hours before the server issue, I sent out my standard 3000 emails to get people shopping today. So, for the first hour post email blast, I was getting nice orders, and then they just stopped.

Since email marketing is known to be a "reactive" medium, I know that I basically get one shot to make my sale. It's that one opportunity when customers open their email. They generally either click in to the site, or delete it. People are accustomed to getting large amounts of email each day, I'm very sensitive about the time of day I choose to deliver mine. It's first thing in the morning, never in the evening. For my target demographic, ages 50+, that is the most profitable time.

It's incredibly frustrating to go through all of the effort to get it right, and have your server drop right out from under you. Oh well, perhaps those kind customers who tried to click in and couldn't, thought to save the email, and will try later..but I won't hold my breath.
