Black Friday from Disney
Well, so far so good online. Our sales are up today about 30%, that's great. I'm really curious as to what happens on Monday, as legend has it, that is the largest online shopping day! I plan to start sending out salemail over the weekend with some Christmas specials!
I love the hustle and bustle of the holiday. It's one thing to experience it from a family standpoint, and completely another to watch your business go nuts for three weeks. Both experiences are really equally exciting. Actually the week before xmas it slows completely....too late to ship on time for most people. And then there are some who don't mind to pay a fortune for shipping. I am not one of those people, so it doesn't surprise me that we don't get a lot of them. I get a kick out of the people who come in and spend $15 on an item, but then $18 to ship it!!
I am typing this from Orlando, we've met our best friends from Maine for Thanksgiving. I think I really just experienced the longest day of my life. And I'm sure...with great confidence...that it will be a cold day in hell before I do it again! Disney was a nightmare. Huge crowds..two hour waits...yuck!! Won't bore you with the details...just glad I'm chatting with you all, instead of chasing down disney characters for my daughters autograph book...that, by the way, is completely empty, because the characters actually had lines too!
OK, enough venting. Nothing a tall glass of Cabernet won't solve. I'll blog again about Monday's progress...
Catalog update: Ok, we've had lots of interest in the catalog. it hasn't been out long enough (in circulation) to get the orders coming yet.
