QBPOS Upgrade
Hello all. I was at the shop this weekend and completed the upgrade to our Quickbooks POS to Basic 6.0. We have been using Basic 2004 (3.0) since we opened. I remember how scary the entire setup was. What if I don't have all the right components? How does the merchant service work? How does this software talk to the QB financial software? Sonehow we lived through it.
When we opened the store Carol wanted to have handwritten paper tickets. The idea was much more romantic.... ikes! So if this software didn't work the first time, I was going to hear about it. Upgrading the software brought all this back to me.
The install went flawlessly. I followed the QB instructions, no sweat. I was anticipating more of a headache but it went very smooth. Scott and I loaded the car and headed back to St. Louis to catch the World Series. Go Cards!
Monday while I was at my regular J-O-B, Carol calls. The credit cards aren't going through. Gulp! I didn't run one as a test. I always do that. What was I thinking, or not! Was it the software or the internet connection? Can't blame the SBC guy this time. Carol and I walked through it over the phone and apparently the data transfer program for the QBPOS upgrade skipped a check box. It's the one that tells the POS to connect directly to the internet rather than dialing out. Oops! It transferred everything else as far as we can tell but now I wonder what else will surface. I don't like that feeling..:-)
All in all, the new upgrade is great. It has lots of nifty tools that will make life easier once we get used to it. For now, Carol is busy counting yarn balls so we can have confidence in the inventory levels showing on our web store.
The next step will be to get on the phone with PDG Software and walk through the integration setup. Exciting!.... it's the little things in life.
Gotta go. I have a flight to catch. Have a great week.
Go Cards!
Till next time, Sandy
