Hello all. This week sure went by fast. We have had a lot going on at our house this past month so it's been hard finding time to work on our shopping cart. I'm just as anxious, as I'm sure you all are. to quit talking about getting it up and running and talk about what happens when the first order rolls in. I can't wait.

This week I started working on the csv file I downloaded from my database last week.. or week before.. it's all running together. Anyway, it's a huge timesaver. Even though we have this wonderful new QBPOS integration going for us with our new PDG Commerce, each item in our web store will need a picture and more description. And categories... I can't have several thousand items show up when you click on "yarn"... what brand do you want?... what gauge? You have no idea how complicated the yarn world can be..:-) I need tons of sub categories... tons. I can do this much quicker with my csv spreadsheet. If I had to click on each product and add categories, images and description, that's all you would hear from me for the next year or so; clicking, clicking and more clicking.

So, the editing has begun. I am also gathering images from our vendors on the web, with their permission of course. Lots of our vendors have electronic artwork in one form or another available. I will have to get some pictures myself but this will save me lots of time right now. Even though I get this electronic artwork from our vendors, I still open, size, create thumbnails (if not already available) and still have lots of clipping to do on some, but the base is there.

Carol has been a busy little bee counting inventory in the store. She is working through our top selling vendors at a blazing speed to be sure we have accurate counts; something about opening up our inventory for the world to see on the web has us more focused on accuracy than ever before. We count on a regular basis but if our count is off in the brick and mortar store, the yarn is either physically there or not. It's easy to do a visual check if you are looking for something.... can't do this from cyberspace.

Soon it will be time to make phone calls and get our web site transferred to our new host and work on acquiring a new SSL. I'm so excited I can hardly contain myself...:-)

Till next time, Sandy
