Finally! Yippee! The domain transfer is complete. That's a lot easier to say today than it was last night. As I'm sure you can already guess, from my recent blogs, it's been another crazy week at our house. It all started with the realization that I had ordered the wrong hosting package. I won't bore you with the explanation of how this could possibly happen. Let's just say it won't go down in history as one of my most stellar moments. I was able to correct it easily enough. I must not be the only one that's ever done this as they had an online procedure to switch to a different package. OR.... a little more realistic... most folks probably do it for business reasons. I was trying to make myself feel better but it didn't work.

So, Monday night was the baking of the pumpkin cheesecake; no time for the web site. Tuesday evening was apple pie baking night, then a few minutes of quality time with my computer before bed. I don't check our web site too obsessively but something made me check it last night. It was GONE! In it's place was a nice little message from and. Panic! Even though I had all of those nice little steps I could have taken to make the switch seamless, I had not done it. Now, I had lost the web site along with the email and blog that went with that package. Another not-so-stellar moment..:-) So I, somewhat calmly, begin by uploading my web site content to and via ftp. They don't have a cute little bubble gummy ftp interface for me so I have to remember (www.google.com) how to ftp using Windows Explorer on my XP machine. It's super easy but since I've only done it a few times, a little scary too. It went like clockwork. Whew!

Now, www.simplyfibers.com and there it is just like before. Happy dance!!!! Clicking around I noticed that my old GoDaddy shopping cart link doesn't work and my GoDaddy blog isn't working either. Surprisingly, I really don't care. I'm ready to move away from GoDaddy so I focused my few precious moments of computer time toward creating new email accounts at 1and1 and setting up a new blog there too. I have a little more work to do before the blog is ready but I have a decent start on it in just a few minutes. My email accounts seemed to be working just fine but I wasn't entirely sure I had the settings right. My husband sent me a test email from his chair about 4 feet away and it went through just fine... to all four email accounts.. oops. I started to reach for the mouse as my husband explained to me that it would be just fine that way for the night. OK. Night night.

First thing this morning, shower, latte, off to the computer. In 20 minutes I managed to remove the "SHOP" and "BLOG" buttons from my web site pages, provide a brief explanation about their absence, ftp the revised pages and fix my email settings. Now I can relax for the Thanksgiving weekend.

We certainly have lots to be thankful for. We'll have a great dinner at my in-law's house and Friday I'll help out in the store. I love the store. There are real people there, no error messages popping up in my face and not a lot of hoops to jump through. I get to see the new merchandise, projects people are working on, and I get to remember why I'm driving myself crazy with this web site.

Moving forward, our new shopping cart should be live in just a few short weeks. I think that would be a great Christmas present!

Till next time. Happy Thanksgiving, Sandy
