Preparation Continues
Hello all. It's been a while. We've made it through another Thanksgiving dinner and had plenty to give thanks for. I only wish we could have had the new shopping cart running but we can only do so much and keep our sanity at the same time. And I'm sure there are some who would question the success of the latter. :-)
In preparation for our new shopping cart which will be integrated with our Quickbooks POS, Maddi and Carol have been cleaning up descriptions in our POS system. It's a scary thought to open up your computer database to the world. Do my product descriptions make sense? Are they consistent with each other? Are they correct? It's a little like opening up your home to the public. Are your closets clean? In a brick and mortar store, everything is sitting right there in front of you. Our walk-in customer doesn't care if the computer description is correct or consistent or if it makes sense to them. They have physically picked out what they want to purchase and didn't have to rely on the computer description. Of course, they do care that the price is correct in the computer but we're onto that one. Soon though, we'll have a customer base that will rely solely on the computer and pictures... ikes! Let's get this place cleaned up before company arrives!
With the winter storm and yarn reps lining up last week(yes, it's that time again), I didn't accomplish as much as Carol and Maddi last week. This week I have managed to get my database info to PDG Software so they could install the shopping cart software on my new host. That's done... probably took them 20 minutes. So now it's time to work toward integrating PDG Commerce and Quickbooks POS. If I understand it correctly, they will send me a file that I'm supposed to upload. I know I need a new SSL before I do that. Been there done that. Purchasing the SSL doesn't scare me any more... HA! I'll get that done this week. I'll also cancel my hosting with EDT since I dont need them or the charge on the credit card every month(nothing personal)..:-)
Things here should calm down a little this week and next.... shhhhh... don't tell anyone I said that. I hope to have more progress to share next week. Keep your fingers crossed for me.
Have a great week. Till next time, Sandy
