My New Favicon
Hello all. Last week, I told you that my husband and I were beginning an HTML class. Thursday evening was our first class. We're taking this class as a non credit course. I remember hours of homework and horrific tests with those engineering classes. I don't feel like I have that kind of time at the moment. Just give me the content and no one gets hurt...:-)
It was a hoot! We did a web page in the course of the class which is about 2 1/2 hours! I blush to think about how long it took me to crank out my first web page from scratch. That said, I walked away happy that I had done it first, then took the class. Now I can look for enhancements to what already exists. Oh.... and the homework only took me 30 minutes. Love that!
So, one night we were both feeling a little lazy and decided to order a pizza. Of course, we order online. I love the internet! Later, after the pizza has been consumed, we settled in front of our respective computers for our news, weather and weird information fix for the day. When I pulled down the list of recently visited sites, there was the cutest little pizza slice icon for this pizza joint. I say to my husband.... "Hey! Look at this! I want one of these!". Not a pizza icon but perhaps a ball of yarn; perhaps the ball of yarn from our logo???
Off to Google. What is that thing, what is it called and how do I get one? Turns out its a favicon and its really easy to get one. I notice a lot more of them in just the past week. You can google to get the exact details but it's a matter of having a 16 x 16 pixel image and finding a way to reformat it as a .ico file.... can't just rename the extension.. sorry. Then you name it "favicon.com" and drop it in your root directory or wherever your home page resides. Easy as pie.... maybe even a pizza pie. It's the little things in life.
Till next time,
Sandy
