So Much to Learn..... Still
Hello all. Well, I've had time this week to get a few things done... including a few naps. I've added yet more items to our site but it's still not enough. Will I ever get everything out there??? It's taking me a lot longer than I ever thought it would but every time I get another 10 or 20 items out there, I feel good about the progress. It's the little things in life right?
So, what did I learn this week? Well, you're going to wonder why it took me so long to get this one but take it easy on me. Remember the regular J-O-B and all the other stuff that's been going on around here... then feel free to laugh. It's ok, I can take it.
I'm not sure why I thought about this or remembered it. I was busy renaming pics that I got from a vendor's site. PDG Commerce defaults to the sku.jpg as the name of the pic for any given product. I download the pics (with permission, of course) from our vendors respective sites and then rename them with the sku.jpg format. Then I copy them via ftp to our host server. Up until now, I have been creating thumbnails for everything and using the format sku_thm.jpg. This works well but I happened to remember seeing a "thumbnail image size" in my PDG Commerce software. I took a few minutes and looked around. There it was. I filled in the size I wanted for my thumbnails and tested it. It worked!!! Ok, laugh all you want but I've just discovered a way to get items out there faster. Every little bit helps.
What else have I been up to? I started looking at site submission tools and SEO this weekend.... just barely. Right or wrong, I decided to use the submission service offered by 1and1.com, my server host service. We'll see what happens but I want to see just how bad it is and just how much work I've got to do. Its barely a scratch of the surface but it's some sort of a start.
Till next time,
Sandy
