Hello all. I'm still here. I feel like I'm running relay races but I'm still here.

What kinds of exciting things have I managed to get done on my site? Not much. I've had a serious lack of motivation lately and have been kind of a scrooge. I know this too shall pass so please bear with me. I'm on "vacation" from the insanity of my regular J-O-B until the new year. Of course, I'm joking about the insanity thing (just in case one of my superiors may be reading this). :-) Bottom line, I'm hoping to take a deep breath and get back into the swing of things on the web site.

What next? Since I haven't been able to get anything crossed off, I still have plenty on my list. I have been perusing my Javascript book when I can manage a few minutes of down time. I can't wait to sit down with my computer and work through a few of the tutorials. I may get a chance on my "vacation".

Exciting news! Soon I'll have a new-to-the-web-site product line. We are very fortunate to have one of the most talented rug hookers in the country in our shop. She has been seriously into this for years and has been with us since we opened the doors on our brick and mortar store. She has the most beautiful hand dyed wool and patterns. She has sold for years on ebay and is ready to start adding her wares to our ecommerce site. She has quite a following so I see this as a win win deal. We need orders and feedback from customers so we can make our site more user friendly and this will give a permanent home to her things with NO miscellaneous fees to worry about. So, how do we get the wheels in motion on this deal? Lots of issues pop into my head when I think of someone else having access to my precious web site stuff. This requires a lot of thought for a newbie like me. I have lots of work to do just to allow someone else to add products to our site. There's the ecommerce software, then uploading images via ftp, access to the email that receives the orders and a block of item numbers from our POS software at the brick and mortar store. It's a lot more setup than I anticipated when I suggested it.

What am I doing to secure this? I've assigned her an ftp username and password with access to a specific folder for her uploaded images. She can map her images to this folder. She'll also have her own Simply fibers email address and limited access to add products to our ecommerce side. Piece of cake, eh? It may sound a little paranoid but I don't think you can be to careful with your work. As rough as my work may be to the uber web designers of the world, I have worked hard on it and I'm proud of it. Hang in there uber-geeks, it will get better as I navigate my way through the underworld of web design. In the meantime, I want to eliminate the possibility of anyone accidentally deleting or changing something on our site. After all, we're only human even if we don't feel like it some days.

That's all I have for now. I'm heading to the store to work for a few days before Christmas is upon us. I love being in the store. Maybe this will chase away the scrooginess???

Happy holidays!

Till next time,

Sandy
