Product Videos Breathe Life into the Shopping Experience

Most people enjoy shopping. They enjoy it in the “real world” and online. But for many, despite the numerous advantages, online shopping simply lacks the hands-on experience they desire.

Take something as simple as groceries. If I’m out of cereal, I can just pick up a box of my favorite brand without thinking twice about it. But if I want to buy apples, for example, it might take me a bit longer. I want to look over the varieties in season, pick out ones of the exact size, shape and texture to suit my tastes. I need to touch the apple in order to choose it.

Apples are simple. Now what about larger purchases, such as sporting equipment, appliances, or electronics? Sure you may know exactly what you’re looking for, but many shoppers make decisions based on experience.

In a bricks and mortar store, a customer may browse the merchandise, try on an article of clothing, grip a golf club, or taste the latest flavor of ice cream.

Online shopping, while convenient, simply lacks the hands-on experience.

That’s where videos come in to play. Video brings your products to life.

No matter how well designed, functional and user-friendly your site is, without video the experience of your shoppers remains static, flat and not quite compelling.

With video your shoppers can see your products in action, simulating the “real life” shopping experience and closing the gap between online and offline shopping.

Adding product videos to your website not only improves the user-experience for shoppers, it increases the likelihood of a sale. In other words, video gives your merchandise an added dimension, and your online store added value.
