Google Webmaster Guidelines
Let me ask you a question. Have you taken the time to really read through the Google Webmaster Guidelines?
Most store owners I ask this question to tell me they haven't.
When I check their website to find out why they aren't ranking well in Google, I find a variety of problems that could have been easily resolved if they had taken the time to review and implement the Guidelines.
So I am here to convince you to start reading these guidelines TODAY!!
You will be amazed at the information provided by Google to help you achieve number one results.
Here are just a few of the guidelines you will find:
Avoid tricks intended to improve search engine rankings. A good rule of thumb is whether you'd feel comfortable explaining what you've done to a website that competes with you. Another useful test is to ask, "Does this help my users? Would I do this if search engines didn't exist?"
Make pages primarily for users, not for search engines. Don't deceive your users or present different content to search engines than you display to users, which is commonly referred to as "cloaking."
Don't participate in link schemes designed to increase your site's ranking or PageRank. In particular, avoid links to web spammers or "bad neighborhoods" on the web, as your own ranking may be affected adversely by those links.
Excellent resource for all ecommerce owners!
Make sure to read the rest of the Google Webmaster Guidelines.
