I have been hearing various news outlets calling the Monday after Thanksgiving (yesterday) "Cyber Monday" in reference to the holiday shopping season. Apparently after the frantic weekend of holiday shopping there is a surge in online sales come the Monday after.

I suppose that I can see it, since people that spent the weekend trying to find a particular gift item, or finding it sold out everywhere, customers then turn to online retailers early to try and get that popular gift. This can be both a wonderful and difficult time for online retailers due to a number of things. On the one hand, this is the primary American shopping season which means that many online retailers are going to be looking at increased sales during the end of the year. However, there are also more stringent shipping demands as people look to have products delivered in time for the Holiday season. Not to mention that competition for those popular gift items tends to be high as people get a feel for what customers are after and what items are "hot" this year.

I wanted to put a quick post up to say "good luck" to online retailers. While there is a lot of money to be made in the next month or two, we want to be sure that retailers know that we understand how much work it can be as well. Happy Holidays, and let's hear it for a record-breaking year with regards to online holiday sales.
