New Bookmarking Links Added
We have had a tremendous response from our visitors that are bookmarking our articles at social networking and news networking sites. Due to that, I have added a couple more bookmarking options at the end of each article. If you are new to bookmarking, these are the icons at the bottom of our articles that will post bookmarks to selected sites which will help you to organize web pages that you like, as well as share interesting web content with others.
Previously we had links for Del.icio.us, Digg.com, Furl, net, Reddit.com and Slashdot.org. Since the folks over at Slashdot don't seem to think that our content is worthy of developers (I'm not sure why, but they can be a snotty bunch) and they consistently turn down our bookmarks, I'll start by saying that I have removed that one. No reason to waste the space.
In it's place, I have add buttons that will help with bookmarking at Blinklist, Ma.gnolia, Newsvine and Spurl. Hopefully people will appreciate them, and use them. I encourage everyone to choose at least one type of bookmarking site and to post to them regularly. It helps to build relationships between content on the web, and also helps to generate traffic to our site. In fact, Del.icio.us has moved to one of our top sources of referral traffic in less than 3 weeks, if that gives an idea of what impact that these links can have.
In addition, I also put in links to show anyone that is linking to our articles in Technorati. Since our new site is still REALLY new, a lot of the aggregate linking has not had time to really take shape. It will, though, as more and more people link to our articles. Now that they are free we are seeing some very interesting traffic patterns, and people are starting to link more and more to the content of our site. Enjoy.
