How to take a Paid eBay Vacation

As I think about selling on eBay one of the first things my mind jumps to is the perks. What are some of the perks? Being your own boss and writing your own paycheck are two very big perks, but there are many more. One really nice perk that may not be obvious until you think about it is this; you are the boss so you can continue to get that before mentioned paycheck even when you are away from working your auctions. In other words, you can have a paid vacation when you want to!

What kind of magic do you perform to make this happen? You schedule your auctions to start and end when you choose. And you choose the number of days that you want your auction to run.

What does this look like in practical use?

Let’s say that you want to take 10 days off from working your eBay store so that you can travel to the Caribbean on a 7 day cruise and also have time to recuperate before you hit it hard again. You know in advance the days you will be gone. You know that you do not want your auctions to end in the middle of the week while you are gone. You want your auctions to end when you will be back to take care of your customers. What you do is use eBay’s scheduling option to get around these obstacles.

One good way to keep your auctions going during the ten days would be to sit down at your computer a few days in advance of your trip and start setting up several auctions. These would be completely written listings, ready to go WHEN you tell them to start. You could use the 1, 3, 5, 7, 10 day auction formats to keep fresh auctions popping on your all along during your trip and simply time them to start so that their end date and time is the day you are ready to get back to work. If you want several auctions to end the day you are ready to get back to work then Day 1 of your trip would start some 10 day auctions, day 4 would start some 7 day auctions, and day 6 might start some 5 day auctions and so on. Some people do not like to use the shorter auction formats, so you could schedule all 7 or 10 day auctions to start each day during your trip. And you can even mix it up and use both of these options in order to have several auctions end the day you want to start work again as well as having auction continuing to end in a steady schedule each day after that. This, in effect, looks like you are at your desk pumping out auctions every day when you are really sitting in a deck chair looking at the brilliantly azure sky off Coco Cay or Nassau or enjoying the fine dining or day trips with your family.

With scheduling you have the option to be creative about when you want your auctions to start and end. It truly is all about choice, your choice.

Using a system of scheduling auctions has served me very well for years now and has given me the freedom to not be tied to my desk and to my auctions.

One final thought: Why do we take vacations and time from work? Usually is because we want to spend time with family and friends. If you ask me, my number one perk to being an eBay seller is the fact that I can work from home, and put my family first 24/7 and take a paid vacation now and then! The best of all worlds!
