Fast and Free an eBay Promotion
As an instructor teaching people how to sell on eBay, one of the terms I use is to “think like a buyer” when listing on eBay. Encouraging sellers to sit back and take a moment to ask “What would make ME want to buy this item?” Then the words will flow and the listing will run smoother because the seller becomes the shopper of their own item.
For me as a buyer the first thing I love that makes me want to purchase something is “Free Shipping!” There is nothing like the feeling of saving money and free shipping is a huge perk for online shoppers.
Sellers on eBay will be reaping the added bonus rewards when offering free shipping during the holidays by receiving more exposure on the eBay site. EBay announced at the eBay On Location event in Las Vegas, earlier this year how they have been preparing TV commercials as well as promotions to be launched for the Holidays which would help sellers and according to a recent announcement, they have stood true to their word.
Faisal Masud is the Head of North American Shipping and Cross-Border Trade at eBay headquarters and he announced on Thursday October 27th there will be a new logo appearing on the listings of sellers offering free shipping and speedy shipping. This will be displayed to be seen by shoppers registered with qualifying zip codes within the seller’s shipping zones. This new procedure is in testing mode and should be appearing on the site very soon so keep an eye out for this logo:
While shoppers browse the site for gifts, the time to receive items is of major importance as deadlines approach in the spirit of gift giving. Finding that perfect gift is only part of the process. The Fast and Free logo will be the closer on the deal.
I myself as a buyer will be paying attention to the shipping price and the seller’s terms of sale including the estimated shipping time. Spotting an item with this logo will reassure shoppers they will not only receive free shipping but they should receive the item within four business days. This will be the promise of the logo that each seller will be standing behind and each buyer can purchase with confidence.
The eBay Fast 'N Free logo will appear on listings when all the following conditions are met:
- • Both the buyer and the item are within the 48 contiguous states.
- • The item offers a free shipping service
- • Based on seller delivery information from the past, eBay can estimate with a high level of confidence that using the free service, the item will deliver in 4 business days or less.
