Interview with an eBay App Writer: 3Dsellers
I’ve had the pleasure to test drive a few eBay apps provided by a company called: 3Dsellers.com. And now that I'm impressed with the apps and the company, I’ve decided to interview the people behind the scenes.
First let me tell you more about eBay apps for those that are not familiar with this. EBay hosts an app center for developers to create applications that will enhance the eBay Marketplace. It is a process to have an app approved by eBay. There are several levels of requirements needed to be met before eBay allows them into the system. 3Dsellers has met all the requirements with each of their apps. So, with that said, allow me to introduce to you:
Danna Tell us about the name: 3Dsellers and the meaning behind it, if any.
3Dsellers We started developing 3D and “augmented reality” applications, that’s where the name comes from. In the near future we will be launching apps displaying these and similar technologies.
Danna How did you first get started creating eBay apps?
3Dsellers 3Dsellers was established in June 2010 with the objective of developing applications that improve the online shopping experience. Like we like to say, "a seller's success is our success."

That's exactly why we started developing solutions for sellers via the eBay app center. Understanding the vast potential of the online marketplace and that the app center was in its infancy, we started to master the eBay API and launched apps, one after the other.
Danna How many developers do you employ?
3Dsellers Currently we’re a group of 3: Alex Flom, Avi Assa, and Shiran Kleiderman.
Danna Where is your headquarters located?
3Dsellers We’re located in Herzliya, Israel.
Danna What was the name of the first eBay app you created and please share the numbers of subscribers you have?
3Dsellers Our first app was "Share Your Items".
Currently we own 6 out of the 67 applications on eBay’s app center, with 3 more apps that are currently in development phases. We have approximately 14,000 subscribers and our yearly growth is around 150%.
Danna WOW those are impressive numbers! Please tell us what is the process like having an app approved by eBay and about how long does it take?
3Dsellers Once the app has been developed and tested, the approval process takes about 2 months. It consists of a frontal app review (via web-conference call) with eBay personnel and the approval of a billing plan.
The review verifies that we highly comply with issues such as customer support, app functionality and privacy and security.

Danna Can you give us a sneak peek into something you are working on now and when can we expect the release?
3Dsellers In the past 4 months we have been developing a unique video technology, enabling the mass generation of animated and interactive videos. The technology empowers the automatic transformation of static webpages into interactive 3D videos.
In addition, two new apps will be launched soon:
- “Flash Gallery” enabling sellers to display on their listings amazing galleries exhibiting their items and offerings.
- “One Hour Translation” – This application will be customized for the eBay platform and environment, enabling sellers to translate and list their items’ descriptions on eBay's various international and multi-language sites, empowering them in reaching and grasping potential international customers. The app is developed with our strategic partners “One Hour Translation”, check out their outstanding services.
Danna What does the future hold for 3DSellers.com?
3Dsellers First of all, our main objective is to help sellers succeed. In addition, we plan to develop new and interesting applications never seen on eBay (video, interactive apps) and to further expand development and personnel.
