I'd like to draw on the experience of this forum- as to selling internationally especially wholesale. I get lots of people trying to get me to sell to Nigeria, etc. But what about potential customers that seem to be located in the UK but want to ship to Africa... That still seems shady to me but it's hard to be sure. Also what kind of reputation does Australia have as to fraud? Thanks in advance for any experience any of you've had |

Greetings, nstarleather.
You might consider asking the question to your merchant account provider, or your credit card processor. One of the folks we've interviewed for that piece, John Waldron on e-online data, inc., suggested that.
Just a thought . . .
Thank you for the post.

| I understand that those are the people to ask, however if anyone in this forum has had experience in this regard- it'd be nice to be able to learn from other's mistakes- I know lots of people have been defrauded- inspite of recommendations from- the sources your mentioned. |

I just saw your post, dont know how often you actually check this board.
IF you need any assistance in international export (wholesale or retail) or know anyone who wants to outsource for sales in the US/UK or wherever, please feel free to direct them to this site I recently came across.
Its a free service called TAS (Trade Automation Service). If you are an exporter you will know that is isnt safe to export to a party whitout prior information on their back ground. Apart from providing background screen checking for over 50 countries, TAS has services like a Landed Cost Calculator, Compliance Checks, Worldwide Code Classification as well as a Document generation service.
Most of these services (except for Restricted Party Screening) are free to use on the TAS website, the link for which is
www.dhl.com/tas
Would appreciate feedback from you or anyone else who would find these services really useful when doing business on a global scale. Please feel free to share your international business experience with me as I am from a family business that has been exporting for over 40 years and am looking at making a foray into the world of E-commerce. I would like to find out more about the problems faced by Web-based businesses when doing business internationally.
Looking forward to your replies.
Cheers!

| Try checking the IP where the order was placed. If the customers says they are in England but their IP address is in Nigeria, you know something is afoot. |
