Hi all,
Working on a site for a client. The site is nowhere near complete but wanted to put up a mock up of what we have come up with so far, 2 days worth of work. It will be an educational site featuring a book "about how parents can help to inspire their kids." The text for the site should be up next week I hope. Waiting for the client.
Anyway, take a look www.bingnote.com. Comments and suggestions about the layout would be great. By the way, the "our story" is a sample template as to what the other internal pages will look like. Once again, it's no where near complete.

Hi Eric,
I have some thoughts, but not knowing a client's taste, it's hard to know how helpful they can be.
The design is simple, clean and the navigation makes sense. Though possibly add some graphic element to each of the Left Menu items(i.e. a simple bullet object that rotates 90 deg as you mouse over each item). They feel a lil spartan at this moment.
The color scheme is obviously their company colors, so that works. Not sure about the green gel buttons on the bottom right, Everything else has this nice clean CSS feel.
I like the use of a gradient on the lower left element, although perhaps a cleaner one. The products button in the main menu seems a redundant choice with the honkin' big one on the top right as well.
If your client is after a 'get down to business' clean look, this should work for them. My only thought might be when you involve kids or inspirational themes, imagery, and bold design elements can be a powerful addition/mixture. Again, not knowing your client or what they are trying to accomplish, it be hard to know, my friend.
Look forward to seeing future refinements.

| For myself, it would help to know what the client's actual business/purpose is. |

Thanks guys for the comments.
RE: "what is the business/ purpose of the site" I know it's a little difficult right now since we have no text, but the purpose is to sell a book relating to "helping parents inspire their kids". Hopefully in the next week it will become much more clear.
RE Imagery: Yep, Brendan you are correct about the adding more imagery. That "bingzy" character will be placed through out the site and used in several different positions.
Glad you had some comments on the lower button elements, we played with a variety of buttons (solid, gradient, buttons with images, etc) and this looked the best . However, no one was really happy with them. We are still working on it. Since we have the basic layout pretty much done, we will start to add the finishing touches to really make the site pop, better graphics, improvements to the left nav, etc.
The purpose of this posting was to just get some feedback on the design. There is obviously more work we need to do, but waiting on the client. Thanks for the comments.
