Concentrate on selling only one thing on a webpage. Do not overwhelm the customer by make many offerings at once. Use long sales copy and a well written headline. Give the visitor a affiliate link near the top of the page AND at the bottom.
Convince the customer that the product is something that they need. This comes through good sales copy and lots of informational content. Always tweak your sales copy to obtain better results. |

I would expect that you may get a lot of different answers for this, and after noticing that you have over 400 views and just these two replies it goes to show you that no one really knows the secret.
I would start with doing all the basics, make sure your site is well designed and professional, make sure all your security is in place, your product copy should be well written and explain in detail about your products, your photos should be large and clear giving a lot of detail, make sure you have the ability to enlarge photos, don't require customers to register in order to buy something from you, make sure your check out is easy and can be done is less that 3 steps, DO NOT over charge for shipping, if you have a common product make sure you are competative in your pricing.
Take the time and shop in your own store, place an order and go through everything the customer has to and determine if the shopping experience is easy or complicated. |

This is a very broad question and there is much that could be said about it. There is lots of great advice in the Conversion and Usability section of Practical Ecommerce.
Even with expert advice, you will need to test and measure everything, so you'll also want to brush up on your web DELETED knowledge and skills. |

| If you know exactly what your consumer is looking for and where they are coming from, I would make a landing page specific to that product. If I am being redirected to a product website after a search, it is nice not to be taken to exactly what I am looking for. |
