Just wondering if anyone had experimented with any type of service or software to track emails.
I've used PHPList before, as well as web based services such as MsgTag and ReadNotify, but I'm wondering about the ones specifically designed for tracking marketing traffic.
Thanks!
Jon

Constant Contact (Email Service Provider) have the most extensive email open/tracking system I've used so far.
They can provide you with a list of subscribers who opened a particular email you sent, and a list of links they clicked on.
The list shows you which subscriber opened your mail, when (date and time) and how many times.
It also gives you statistical data, such as how many subscribers opened (e.g. you send 1000 emails and 100 subscribers open, it will show as 10% open rate - regardless of how many times a particular subscriber opened your email) Most auto-responder services count each "open" so that you may get 254% open rate, which may simply mean that one subscriber opened your mail 254 times.
One nice feature they have is you can import your existing list without having to re-confirm every single subscriber, which is great for email marketers moving from one service provider to another.
You can sign up with Constant Contact for a free 60 day trial. |

| SilverPop has been great to work with. Their program is feature rich and they'll take on special dev projects by request. A contract is required and they're a little pricey unless you send thousands of emails/week like my company does. So I would def recommend them for large companies. Their support team is knowledgeable and quick to respond (in most cases). Visit silverpop.com |

| I also use constant contact. The tools provided allow me to make some beautiful emails. They offer plenty of detailed tracking information. I currently have about 3,500 subscribers and the cost is $50 per month. The next level of pricing is at 5,000 subscribers. They also offer a small free trial. |

Full disclosure, I work for Emma Email Marketing. On that note, I highly recommend you have a look before making your decision.
You can track the open rate in real time using Emma, plus a load of other stats. Oh, and we're planting five trees for each new account. Trees, who doesn't like trees?
Drop by and have a peak. http://myemma.com/
Cheers,
