I expect to launch my CRE Loaded 6.2 website around June 15th and at that time plan to use ShipWorks as my shipping solution. I'm currently selling on eBay and use Paypal for shipping and we ship around 80% USPS, around 20% UPS and expect to at least at first do a similar ratio for ShipWorks.
We want an automated system and want to purchase a new scale that will hook up directly to the PC so that we can use it with ShipWorks to automatically read in the shipping weight. I know ShipWorks supports this feature with certain scales and two that are mentioned the most are Mettler Toledo and Fairbanks. We are very interested in the Fairbanks Ultegra 9000 but the downside is we notice it doesn't do ounces. We looked at the Mettler Toledo scales, mainly the PS60 series and also those don't appear to weigh in ounces. My question is I know for UPS or even FedEx ounces aren't important but for USPS we need that. It seems to be just a rare feature though so I'm wondering about a few things.
1. I did come across a Mettler Toledo PS6L scale on Google which seems to be the same as the PS60's but it also does ounces. It's also a 150 lb. scale and we don't want a small scale. We have seen 10-20 lb. scales that do ounces. We can't find any mention of it on Mettler Toledo's website so maybe it's discontinued and I'm wondering if anyone is familiar with this scale.
2. As I mentioned most of these scales won't read in ounces but I know it'll be hooked up to the PC to read the weight in. Since the weight will be read into ShipWorks and even Endicia in some cases does it convert a weight such as .35 lbs into ounces for USPS shipping so that I could still use this for USPS shipping? I figured the only time that the ounce reading may be a problem is if I manually enter weight which would be a rare occurance and even then I could use an online calculator to calculate ounces.
Thanks for any help with the above. |
