Since 2004, NBurman Design has been owned and operated by Nicholas Burman, specialist in print, web, and multimedia design.

Born in England, Nicholas migrated to Canada over twenty years ago. He graduated from the ALBERTA COLLEGE OF ART (as it was called) in Calgary AB (Fine Art diploma, 1995) and from APPLIED MULTIMEDIA also in Calgary AB (Multimedia Design and Communication diploma, 2003). Ever since, he has been in training to continually learn and develop his skills to keep up with advancements in the design industry and related technologies. This includes software training, studying web usability, keeping up to date with search engine developments (and ever changing SEO practises), multimedia advances and general design.

It's All About 'Them'

Web usability is one point that Nicholas takes very seriously. It is not enough to design an attractive site with all the pizazz of a Photoshop whiz. The site has to be usable, understandable and practical for as many users as possible. This goes beyond browser compatibility and extends towards how people view sites, how they interact with them and what their expectations are.

Running Backwards

When it comes to designing for print, Nicholas employs 'Backwards Design'. This involves going to the end of the process and working backwards to the start. The printer is always consulted first, to ascertain the correct formats or other requirements that may be specific to that printer, and work from there. This ensures that the end results matches the client's expectations as closely as possible, and production runs smoothly. To coin a phrase, 'If the printer ain't happy, ain't nobody happy!'

It Takes Two (Or More)

Nicholas takes care of all design and website building duties, but when projects require even more expertise, NBurman Design uses a team of copywriting, marketing and programming partners.

All partners are local, too. Everyone working for NBurman Design makes a real wage, and nothing ever gets outsourced to third world countries. Even hosting is located in Canada.
