Don't Get Caught In The Paper Shuffle

If you find yourself surrounded by stacks of paper that seem to multiply by themselves, it’s time to organize the way you handle paperwork. The best rule of thumb is to take care of a piece of paper the first time it crosses your desk. If the task will take only a few minutes to address, take care of it immediately so you can file that paper in your finished pile. If you think it will take longer than a few minutes, schedule adequate time to take care of it within the next few days, and keep the paperwork in sight. Every few days, clean out your to-do box and file papers properly so you can find them when needed. Don’t let the paper shuffle keep you from being productive. Use your organizational skills to tame paperwork and you’ll thank yourself later.
