Are You Paying Too Much For PCI Compliance?

It is common for merchant account providers to automatically assess payment card industry compliance fees, known as PCI compliance fees, to all of their ecommerce-merchant customers. Although many smaller merchants don't qualify for full PCI compliance, most are still charged compliance fees by their account provider. PCI compliance fees are determined by the merchant account providers themselves, and fees can vary considerably from provider to provider. For some merchants, having a hosted shopping cart that avoids the merchant account provider and uses the payment gateway service might be a better alternative, but you can't necessarily avoid the PCI compliance charges just because you have a hosted shopping cart. The best advice is to shop around, and ask about all fees before deciding on a merchant account service.
