Cost Center or Sales Generator?
Many ecommerce merchants view shipping and fulfillment as cost centers. But a customer-focused shipping policy can increase loyalty and drive repeat sales. In this 30-minute webinar, we’ll review key shipping practices that customers will always value, thus creating a competitive advantage for a merchant, to spur loyalty and additional revenue.
Using Shipping to Increase Customer Loyalty
We’ll address the following key points.
- Free shipping as a customer retention strategy. In a 2015 study, 75 percent of shoppers surveyed said that shipping costs were an important factor in the buying process, and 56 percent had abandoned an order because of shipping costs. Free or discounted shipping can encourage shoppers to complete the purchase, and build long-term loyalty. We’ll explain.
- Multiple shipping options. Online shoppers value convenience. Offering multiple ways to send packages can create value for shoppers, and thus entice them to return. We’ll provide examples of companies that do this well.
- Upgraded shipping. Successful online retailers, such as Zappos, use shipping upgrades to surprise and delight repeat shoppers and encourage them to return. We’ll explain how to upgrade shipping to please your customers — and not break your bank account.
- Include special shipping offers in promotions. Often retailers are quick to discount products to spur sales. But special shipping offers can help to drive sales, too, frequently for less money than product discounts. We’ll suggest ways to decide whether to offer free shipping, discount shipping, or something else to entice shoppers to buy.
Following his presentation, Roggio will answer questions from attendees.
