12 How-to and DIY Video Sites

Adding videos to your website can be a terrific way to inform consumers on your product expertise, add value to their shopping experience, and set your site apart from your competitors. A video can be produced with little or no expense. And there are plenty of how-to videos available online to use as examples for your own video production.

Here is a list of how-to and do-it-yourself video websites. There are how-to videos available for nearly every subject. There are sites that show only original high-definition videos, while other sites show community-submitted videos. The runtime of how-to videos varies, but many are under three minutes.

Instructables

Instructables started at the MIT Media Lab as a site to share projects, connect with others, and make an impact on the world. The site has grown to over 100,000 how-to projects. Instructional projects are submitted by members. Categories include technology, workshop, living, food, play, and outside.

eHow

eHow has more than two million articles and videos in 30 categories that cover just about everything. Professionals in every field come together to offer expert advice, backed by the additional support of an active eHow community.

Howcast

Howcast has tens of thousands of short, helpful, high-quality videos to choose from. Categories include style, food, tech, recreation, fitness, health, home, family, money & education, relationships, and video games. Videos are grouped in new and featured guides.

WonderHowTo

Wonder How To provides nearly 200,000 how-to videos and articles from more than 7,000 specialized creators, spanning 35 vertical categories and 424 sub-categories. It also has subject worlds for the community to meet up and share tips and tricks.

MonkeySee

MonkeySee shows the skill and knowledge of experts and delivers it to inquisitive audiences. Videos are by professional producers and accomplished experts, providing advice and demonstrations in detail. It has created more than 11,000 videos, all shot in high-definition.

HowStuffWorks

HowStuffWorks is a good site for professionally produced tutorial videos. A subsidiary of Discovery Communications, it provides videos to walk through topics clearly and simply, seeking to demystify the world.

DIY Network

DIY Network, from the makers of HGTV and Food Network, is a go-to destination for home improvement content. DIY Network’s programs and experts answer questions and offer creative projects for do-it-yourself enthusiasts.

Videojug is a U.K. pioneer of how-to online videos. Videojug has been producing professional, instructional, short-form online video content since 2006. Videojug also helps brands communicate with consumers through producing branded online video content.

SuTree
