Affiliate Marketing Events in 2014

The following is a non-exhaustive list of top affiliate marketing events in 2014. Deciding which to attend will depend on whether your primary goal is to learn more about affiliate marketing, or to meet and recruit new affiliates.

Industry Wide

Affiliate Management Days
Date: March 19-20, 2014
Location: San Francisco, Calif.
Main Purpose: Learn about Affiliate Marketing
Launched in 2012, AM Days is a conference for affiliate managers and marketing executives. Covered topics span affiliate marketing strategy, program management, and related industry issues. The smaller size of this conference lends itself to an intimate environment, for networking with industry colleagues.

Mom 2.0 Summit
Date: May 2-4, 2014
Location: Atlanta, Ga.
Main Purpose: Meet Affiliates
A conference for mom bloggers and women entrepreneurs who generate online content. Mom 2.0 was launched in 2008 with the purpose of connecting influential moms with marketers. Today, it has almost 600 attendees representing parenting, entertainment, food, politics, technology, social change, business, travel, design, and more.

Date: June 27-29, 2014
Location: Chicago, Ill.
Main Purpose: Meet Affiliates
This interactive event is structured to foster active engagement among participants. After each speaker session, attendees gather in groups of 4 to 5 people, and work through a specially designed discussion model that enables participants to consult with one another, solve current issues and apply learning to their own projects.

Date: July 24-26, 2014
Location: San Jose, Calif.
Main Purpose: Meet Affiliates
2014 marks the tenth anniversary of the annual BlogHer conference, one of the largest conferences geared toward women in social media. Sessions and exhibits are geared toward the 2,500 attendees, and counts more than 130 brands, such as Coca-Cola and Samsung, as sponsors.

Affiliate Summit East
Date: August 10-12, 2014
Location: New York, N.Y.
Main Purpose: Learn about Affiliate Marketing and Meet Affiliates
Affiliate Summit was launched in 2003, with the purpose of educating both affiliate managers and affiliates about industry issues, and to provide a productive networking environment for both entities. Today, attendance is in the thousands and there are two shows per year. The first, Affiliate Summit West, takes place in early January in Las Vegas. Affiliate Summit East occurs every August at an East Coast location.

PubCon Las Vegas 2014
Date: October 6-9, 2014
Location: Las Vegas, Nev.
Main Purpose: Meet Affiliates
PubCon hosts multiple events throughout the year. However, its Las Vegas show, which boasts an attendee roster in the thousands, was named as a “Must-Attend Conference for Entrepreneurs,” by Forbes. The show’s focus is not specifically on affiliate marketing. But you can expect to meet experts in the search, new media, and social media arenas, all of which intersect with affiliate marketing.

Network Specific

The events below are sponsored by various affiliate networks, and are designed to facilitate in-person engagement between managers and affiliates, as well as to educate all entities on industry and network-specific issues.

LinkShare Symposium New York
Date: June 25-26, 2014
Location: New York, N.Y.
LinkShare hosts multiple symposiums around the world throughout the year. Events run from January through October, and are held in locations such as Toronto, London, and Tokyo. Two of these events are in the United States: San Francisco in January, and New York in June. Events are designed to facilitate networking between LinkShare advertisers and affiliates.

Date: August 3-5, 2014
Location: Park City, Utah
Hosted by AvantLink, AvantExpo limits attendance to top affiliates within the network. The agenda is designed to allow maximum face-to-face time between retailers and top affiliates. AvantLink has roots in the outdoor gear and apparel industry, and while the event’s focus has certainly broadened since inception to include a wider range of retailers, its history is still felt via networking events that involve alpine coasters, zip lining, and other outdoor events.

Commission Junction University
Date: TBD (Likely September 2014)
Location: Santa Barbara, Calif.
This annual event, hosted by Commission Junction, debuted in 1998. Registration also includes access to an online social community, so networking can begin in advance of the event. CJU also enables conference participants to schedule one-on-one consultations with Commission Junction experts for program reviews and platform walkthroughs.

ShareASale ThinkTank
Date: TBD (Likely October 2014)
Location: TBD
The ShareASale affiliate network has hosted this event since 2006, with the intention of connecting retailers and affiliates, educating all parties on new network tools, and to gather user feedback to help drive network development. Attendance is limited to fewer than 200 attendees, who are selected through an application process to ensure a diverse mix of affiliates, bloggers, and retailers.
