Medium, the social publishing platform, has been in the news recently for abandoning traditional ad-driven publishing (and shuttering its offices in New York and Washington, D.C., and laying off 50 employees.) In a blog post, C.E.O. Ev Williams, who is also co-founder of Twitter, announced that Medium is shifting its resources to defining a new model for writers and creators to be rewarded, based on the value they’re creating for readers.
Whether or not Medium builds a transformational model remains to be seen. For now, Medium remains one of the best places for merchants to find thought-provoking and useful articles to help their businesses.
