Staying abreast of Internet marketing trends and information is no easy task. But following several leading blogs can help.
“I mainly focus on the topic of SEO, so I visit sites that provide SEO information and open dialogue that I feel is relevant to the industry and the classroom,” explained Jake Johnson, course director for Full Sail University’s Internet Marketing Masters Degree Program.
“I’m always interested in sharing information with my students. After reading through these blogs, if there is anything I feel that is important for the students that could supplement their course books and materials, I save the story to share during my class time via live web sessions,” Johnson said. “One of my favorite people in the industry to follow is Aaron Wall. He has a lot of innovative, ‘outside the box’ type ideas that you will not find anywhere else. Drawing on a wide variety of thoughts and opinions is extremely important in this field of study.”
We asked Johnson to share the blogs he reads the most for this “Bloglist.”
SEOmoz
“I love the combination of interesting blog posts and SEO tools available on this website. They also offer amazing videos via ‘Whiteboard Friday’ where they take pretty complex SEO strategies and explain them in very easy to understand terminology. It is very easy to get caught up in a bunch of industry jargon, but Seomoz.org does a great job of breaking it down in to logical terms.”
Search Engine Watch
“This website does a great job of bringing in the thoughts and opinions of a plethora of industry experts. I subscribe to the newsletter, which always keeps me in touch with the most recent blog topics. One of my favorite and most useful tools on the website is the SEW Forums. It is a great venue to bounce ideas and share opinions with your industry peers.”
Search Engine Journal
“This website offers a ton of useful articles and posts. I particularly enjoy reading Ann Smarty’s posts. She continuously comes up with fresh takes on SEO topics that help me clarify my own ideas.”
SEO Book
“This is one of my absolute favorite websites, because of the useful free tools and the outstanding blog. Aaron Wall is at the top of my list of industry leaders who give back to the community. I use a lot of his tools and ideas in my course. When you are getting into the SEO field, my first suggestions is to bookmark this website.”
