Do Group Coupons Help Ecommerce Merchants?

Group-coupon offers from companies like Groupon and LivingSocial are becoming very popular. But, is it a marketing approach that is right for every small business, especially those that lack a brick-and-mortar presence?

A number of pure-play ecommerce companies are beginning to tap into the trend. For example, OfficeArrow, an online community for office managers, has an ecommerce platform that includes a “deal-of-the-day” offer for its members.

Moreover, Facebook application providers North Social and Wildfire have group-coupon-buying apps that merchants can use on Facebook Fan pages. Even some ecommerce platform providers — ShopIgniter is one example — are beginning to add a daily deals component into their platforms.
