Practical eCommerce is soon to publish our first annual “Shopping Cart Roundup” guide. The purpose of this PDF guide is to help ecommerce merchants locate the right cart for their businesses. We’ll explain the shopping cart features that we believe are important to look for, as well as the relative merits of licensed carts, hosted carts and open-source carts. We’ll cite common mistakes that merchants make in choosing shopping carts.
We’ll also provide a list of every shopping cart – licensed, hosted and open-source – that we are aware of worldwide. There are hundreds of them, and our list will be, to our knowledge, the most comprehensive.

I'm really looking forward to this Shopping Cart Roundup Guide as I am currently looking for a new shopping cart. My main criteria for a shopping cart is one that will allow me to be more flexible with shipping calculations. Most carts only allow flat rate, weight based, or price based shipping which doesn't really work for me.
I ship using each of the 3 USPS Flat Rate packages. The package I use depends on the combination of products purchased. To keep my customers' shipping costs down, I offer "combined shipping" which has me refunding partial shipping charges on 7 out of 10 purchases from my site.
I'd be interested to hear if anyone knows of a solution to this problem. Thanks, Jennie
